Why is my sliding door so hard to open?
Nine times out of ten it is the rollers. They wear down like car tires, and near the coast that can happen in as little as a few years. Once they flatten out, the door drags and grinds. Cleaning and lube rarely bring worn rollers back, so if you hear a scratching sound, catch it early before the roller starts chewing up the bottom track and turns a cheap fix into a bigger one.
Can you come out the same day?

Should I repair the door or replace it?

How do I keep my slider sliding smoothly?
Keep the bottom track clean. Vacuum it out about once a month so grit does not build up, and once a year add a little silicone spray, never oil. In the dusty months, skip the spray and just keep the track clean, since lubricant collects sand into a paste that makes things worse.
